I am a girl whose fulfillment comes from loving God, loving others, and living in wonder, curiosity, excitement, and gratitude.
I love to breathe in the beauty of God's creation, and feel so grateful to be so connected to it...eating an amazing variety of delicious raw fruits and veggies for nourishment.
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 11; then, with epilepsy at the age of 13. Though I did what was necessary to survive my teenage years with the new restrictions and the need for regimented control of my eating, medication, and schedule, I was affected far beyond anything I could understand at the time.
I began secret binge-eating, visiting studio harry potter and rebelling against anyone who tried to exert control over my life decisions. My secret eating soon spiraled out of control into a serious eating disorder, which took over my life for the next 15 years.
Though I completed my college degrees in music and disabilities, and began work in the field of disability, my life was in turmoil. The music I wrote, while I gave it my all, very much reflected my feeling of entrapment and hopelessness.
Though I got certified as a personal trainer, I could not work in the field because the focus on weight and exercise fueled my obsession. Though I sought out recovery, I was unable to find a solution for many years.
By an amazing turn of events , I finally recovered in 2007...I began a new way of living that has changed everything.
One part of my recovery process was to ask God how to unselfishly nourish my body, which I did. Shortly thereafter, I was introduced to the world of raw foods. I read that people could heal diabetes & epilepsy on a raw food diet, but I had no idea where to start. My learning process consisted of voracious reading, video-viewing, and trial-and-error.
After three years in the raw foods world, I finally landed on the fruit-based raw food diet as the one that worked the best for energy, healing, and diabetes control. I have documented my journey on the fruit-based diet in video logs since the end of 2010.
